Asia’s 1st Annual Men’s Fashion Week Event in Singapore

Gentlemen, mark your calendars for Men’s Fashion Week 2011 Singapore!

For the first time in Asia, and only the third in the world (after Paris and Milan), Men’s Fashion Week (MFW) 2011 will be staged in Singapore from 30 March to 3 April 2011.
The five-day inaugural men’s fashion event will showcase the Autumn/Winter 2011 collections of up to 15 renowned brands from Singapore, the Asian region and internationally.
“We envision MFW 2011 Singapore to serve as an opportunity for regional and local men’s wear designers to showcase their collection, alongside the internationally-renowned labels; and it will also cement Singapore’s position as THE go-to country in search of quality, renowned menswear brands for shoppers in Asia. We are also heartened to have received the local support of fashion giants like FJ Benjamin, Kwang Sia, The Link and the Valiram Group,” said MFW 2011 Singapore’s Chairman, Frank Cintamani.

Costing an estimated S$2 million to organise, the curtains of MFW 2011 Singapore will be raised with a gala show on 30 March and conclude with a closing party on 3 April. Other participating brands, to date, include Boss Black by Hugo Boss, Canali, Dress Camp, Emmanuel, Etro, G.I.L. Homme, Raoul, Shanghai Tang and Versace.

Asian male supermodel, Philip Huang, who has walked the runways of Paris, Milan and New York, has been appointed the “face” of MFW 2011 Singapore and will take on the catwalk for various brands during the five-day fashion event.

He is the first Asian male model to have broken the race barriers and ascended the fashion ladder to supermodel status. Philip is truly an inspiration to all Asian male models, a great representation of Asian success in the fashion world.

“Men’s style consciousness has come of age and men’s fashion has come out from the shadows of the female-centric fashion industry and this is an opportune time for a Men’s Fashion Week to be held in this part of the world, with Singapore as the ideal place, given that the cosmopolitan city-state is increasingly recognised as the region’s fashion hub, ” added Cintamani.

Two more familiar faces have also been named to represent MFW 2011 Singapore as well – Utt and Julian Hee. Thai-Chinese American Utt is the “voice” of this fashion extravaganza and the fashionable host of all the principal MFW events. Utt has been a VJ for MTV Asia since 1998, hosted five seasons of the urban legend program Incredible Tales as well as acted in other popular TV drama shows across Asia. He’s also been a spokesperson for the Giordano clothing line and for Pepsi.
